Mix together equal parts of turpentine, methylated spirit and boiled linseed oil. Put in an old jamjar and shake well.
This is the recipe we were taught in upholstery classes for reviving polished furniture - also gets rid of french polish and leaves a lovely finish.
You only need to use a tiny amount on a rag and polish in. Does wonders for tired furniture and completely revived the wood on our boat!!
However, are you're talking about years and years of Mr Sheen? I'd test a bit on a corner, as modern polishes have tons of silicone in.
Best of luck!0
