Recommended Old Style Cookbooks/Mags?

I recently invested in 'The Paupers Cookbook' by Jocasta Innes after Tine's recommendation and that has some superb cheap but tasty stuff in so it gets a thumbs up from me as well, have sent for Jocasta's Country Kitchen Cookbook as well, and in true OS style I used vouchers for Amazon collected from doing lightspeed surveys to pay for the books
I also got a copy of Frugal Living For Dummies not realising that it was an American book  I was expecting some recipes and things to make etc but it's has the sort of advice you can find on the MSE (but in my humble opinion isn't as good as the stuff you can get for free on this wonderful OS board
) Also added to the pile is Delia Smith's Frugal Food, theres a couple of useful recipes in it but not as good as Jocasta's book. As buying books can be costly I wondered what other OS cookery books Os'ers would recommend???
Also cookery magazine recommendations, I've tried Good Food, Olive and several others but find that most of the meals are either not to our tastes or require expensive ingredients or they need too much 'faffing' to make them. I tried posting in the 'shop but don't drop' section re the BBC Easy Cook magazine but got no replies, I got a copy last summer and just found the old copy again last week whilst decluttering a cupboard. It has some nice recipes in and in comparison to other food recipe mags there are loads we'd actually eat, seems to be a lot cheaper per issue as well? The recipes don't cost the earth to make and are easy to do, requiring basic techniques and anything advanced' has step by step guides. I was thinking of subscribing but can't find a recent copy anywhere, does anyone know what the latest issue is or when the next issue is out and if there is a subscription offer? I'm going to make the turkish rice & lamb one pot meal as part of next months meal plan and several other yummy recipes just from the one mag, so it looks like its worth buying on a regular basis?
Are there any other cookery magazines out there that would harmonise with an OS lifestyle and be worth getting? Thought this thread would be good for those new to cooking as it seems that books and mags can be very hit and miss and sometimes we do need a little inspiration, and sharing our views may help others saving money or vouchers on books that aren't so useful!

More with Less by Doris Janzen Longacre -American but excellent.

Hi all,
My latest cookbook ( I tend to got through phases), is The New English Kitchen by Rose Prince, it was on special offer with The Book People and has proved invaluable, as it deals with the ethical side of shopping and making your money go further by shopping in bulk for certain things and ideas and how to make the most of leftovers. The recipes don't take ages either as time is what most of us have so little off.
Others are Delia - any, Nigella not always money saving but good recipes, my nans old war cook book great for ideas and a kick up the bum when I think I haven't anything in.0 -

Hi Plum Pie,
No that one wasn't there as it is a more recent thread but I've added it in now. Thanks for pointing it out.
