Ah but the sauces work because of the vinegar in them :D

    Hi all,

Do any of you have tips for cleaning really dirty copper? I bought two copper fish kettles on Saturday for £3, I want them gleaming on the hearth filled with fircones.

    Any tips welcome

    Hi!!
I always use half a lemon to clean my copper kettle. Just rub cut side over and leave for a few minutes before washing off and drying.

Thanks fatnan will try that, I spent the evening rubbing away with brasso but it's going to take alot of elbow grease that way, and energy I haven't got!

I have inherited a lovely 1920's fire guard, I stareted to clean it up & to my utter suprise it is copper underneath all the years fo grime!:D

I have done a search but the search facility hates me at the best of times so as usual, no success:rolleyes: Never had to deal with cleaning heavily tarnished copper on a large scale before, anyone got any tips please?

    Cheers;)

EDIT : Forget it, I've found it in the cleaning index, vinegar & salt, of course!
