Musty Coat

Options
Bought a fantastic, immaculate Laura Ashley 3/4 Trenchcoat from (you guessed it) Ebay for £5 - bargain!

However, it smells very very slightly musty. I was going to get it dry cleaned, but thanks to this month's cash crisis that is a bit of an unecessary expense. (plus also - would that work?)

Any one got any ideas as to how to de-musty it? It is 'dry clean only'.

And beautiful :rotfl:

Fresh air, it's the best and cheapest deodorant there is. Just pick a dry day with a slight wind and hang it outdoors on a hanger from the line.

I would have sprayed it with a mixture of water and a few drops of essential oils - but if it is dry clean only that could be risky.

Fresh air and sunshine is the best thing, as sunshine kills the mildew that causes the musty smell.

Alternatively you could try storing it for a few days in an airtight bag/trunk etc with a couple of tumble dryer sheets.

Failing that, you could try Febreze, Comfort spray, or hang over a steamy bath with lots of vinegar in the water.
