Can anyone recommend any good cheese shops in Yorkshire/North of England? (I love me cheese and am prepared to travel)
I'm sick of the supermarket/bog standard/zillions of types of cheddar stuff. I'm looking for cheese that hasn't been refrigerated to death like you get in fromageries in France.......any other cheese-lovers???

Allexie, take a look at www.bigbarn.co.uk and type in the town/city etc to find somewhere.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

My local village (in the midlands, not the north) has regular French markets they seem to be about Sept, Dec, one must be coming up soon, Jun/July ish.
It might be worth contacting a few county councils see if they are having one anywhere. There is always a cheese stall run by a real Frenchman.
I did a couple of searches and couldn't find much. Bolton and Keighley had one last year for St. Patricks and St Georges day so they might be repeating it again this year. When life hands you a lemon, make sure you ask for tequilla and salt0 -

I just looked at Bolton Councilwebsite (Bolton, Greater Manchester) http:\\www.bolton.gov.uk it had this in the 'events' section:
"Brunomart's French & Continental Markets
Date(s) Thursday 17th March - Saturday 19th March
Time(s) Contact us for more details
Details New to Bolton – Brunomart’s French and Continental Market will offer high quality tasty treats and fabulous crafts.
Location Victoria Square, Bolton, Lancashire
Cost N/A
Contact 01204 523762"
you could see if any Council's more local to you have something similar in thier events pages
(i know it doesn't mention cheese but i thought it might be the same market as Galtizz mentioned).
Edited to include:
I found thier website: http://www.brunomart.com/

Thanks for the link to the bigbarn website. Its exactly what've been looking for!Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0

There's a really good cheese shop in Kirkby Lonsdale. There's a cheese factory place outside Preston so I imagine they have their own shop too. The farmers market in Kendal is the last friday of the month and there's some good chese people there - wensleydale with cranbury is my fave. There are quite a few factories in the Cumbria/Yorkshire area which will probably have their own shops. I visited one with the local paper on work experience and they sold their own stuff, can't remember where it is though, sorry.0

A farmers type market has just started to run alongside Clitheroes Tuesday market.I have seen a cheese stall, and there are two established cheese stalls open on tues, thurs and sats at the market.Worry is like a rocking horse,it takes a lot of energy but gets you nowhere.0

York Beer and Wine Shop. It sells sheeps cheese and unpasteurised cheese as well as others. I used to live in the flat above it. I miss it0
