Baking pans

I'm not amused. Bought 2 sandwich pans for £3.48 each in Tesco and then found a whole 15 piece baking set in Argos online for £8.49.

tiff, try taking them back if they are unused. Usually tesco are good at that. You can always say you picked up the wrong ones as you weren't *concentrating* lol.
give it a go.r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
I would but its in the oven making a victoria sponge lol. I promised the kids I would make one today before they got home from school.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

But I'm sure the ones you have bought are much better quality and they don't just have to be used for cakes - you can do giant yorkshires in them too. HmmmWhen life hands you a lemon, make sure you ask for tequilla and salt0

Tut, tut tiff - you forgot Martin's basic rules!
Actually, think of it this way, as well as Galtizz's advice what you have *really* invested in is the reminder that you should always investigate a purchase before committing to it. Now, you may still need that Argos set ... just think of the jumbo layer cakes you could make with FOUR sandwich tins
Or, while your cooking yorkshires in one pair you can also be cooking sandwich cakes in the other pair!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I find with bakeware that you get what you pay for. The cheapo's from Argos are a false economy IMO and won't last long before they rust and buckle. I bought a pattie tin for doing individual yorkshires, jam tarts, and mince pies and was happy to pay £20+ for it. 10yrs later and I havn't even broken it in yet. For a lifetime of use it was worth the extra money.Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0

I want to echo what Math is saying - cheap baking trays are a false economy and you are better buying a few individual pieces that you will use regularly than a big 'multi-pack' which I would imagine has quite a few items that you will rarely if ever use, and won't be anywhere near as good.0

I'm also a believer in quality for this sort of thing. I have sandwich pans from Tesco, they're nice and deep and feel sturdy. I'd rather have those than cheap ones from a 'pack'! I also think, the hotter the oven, the more you need to spend. I had cheap bun tins for yorkshire puddings and they buckled. The muffin trays from Sainsburys (that I got half price) are much better.0
