Reduced Food problem/query

Ok, I've done my first official reduced isles shop :D Only problem is I've got home to cook the salmon that I got from Sainsburys and they smell off to me...it does say full flavour, but I don't think they meant *that* full. Does anyone know where I stand with these? They had today as the best before date, so by tomorrow when the store opens they should have been past their best anyway....and I'll be £2.99 x2 out of pocket.

I'm sure when I did my food hygiene course that the teacher said that even if it was on the best before you still had the same rights and therefore could get a refund on what you'd paid? Can anyone clarify this.....and what the heck do I do with these til tomorrow????

Yes you still have a right to a refund, just wrap them up in a bag and take them with you to get your money back.

Take the reciept. Don't take any rubbish about it being reduced, your rights are the same.

I bought salmon on a special offer on a Friday - best before the Sunday. I opened it on the Saturday and it was rank - took it back and ever so helpfully the woman said 'oh but you really should use it the day you buy it'.

After another incident I only buy fish from the supermarket if it is from a local supplier - anything else is not worth eating in my experience.

i tend to find that sainsburys reduced meat/fish has gone off, even tho it is still in date - quite a few times i have frozen some, and then weeks later when i defrost it, find it smells to high heaven - i would say i have to return something 9 times out of 10 - i just dont bother with their reduced meat/fish anymore
  • Well, they took the receipt with no hesitation, so I managed to get my money back. I won't bother in future getting fish from there, as it was a big let down - I was really looking forward to a bit of salmon! Oh well....
