hey yeah, makeover day is legit, I am photographer, and I can explain why. Everywhere you go asks for a deposit, to guarantee your attendance.
Can you imagine studio booking everyone in, from all over the county on the say so, that they will turn up, book them a photographer, stylist etc, and then no one turns up. Think of all the times, you made plans with friends and cancelled, because it's raining outside, or you went out the night before and drank too much. People can be fickle, and businesses know this. It would be stupid of them not to ask for a deposit.
I feel very strongly about this, as I too am a photographer, and would never take this risk of booking studio time, without guarantee of customers arrival, or photographing a wedding, without some deposit for the date.
IF SOMEONE IS GENUINE ABOUT ATTENDING SOMETHING THEY WILL LEAVE A DEPOSIT ON THE KNOW HOW THAT IT WILL BE RETUNED WHEN THEY FULFILL THE AGREEMENT TO ATTEND.
I once made the mistake of not taking anything for a whole days shoot,of which time I reserved for the people who booked me. In the end they did not arrive. I was left with a makeup artist to pay, and a load of light that I'd spent about an hour setting up. I ended in floods of tears. I have never made that mistake since. It annoys me thats people think they can take advantage this way, people have no idea how much time they can waste when they mess you around.0 -

its a fantastic experience!!
My boyfriend and I entered a competition and got a call from a lady called Naz. She was very informative and explained that the deposit was to hold our booking on the day. I payed by credit card. She read out my authorisation code after the transaction had been processed.
We had such a lovely time there!!! The make up artist who did my makeup actually did the make up for xfactor. My boyfriend had some makeup too from a makeup artist who worked on a lot of film sets- was very funny hearing the stories while we were getting styled.
My hair and makeup looked amazing!! I'm so happy with their service!
We had 4 changes of cloths and my boyfriend and I had a semi nude too. The photographer explained that he also did belly dancing- he was so funny. We went from nervous to cheeky silly. He made us feel so natural in front of the camera. My boyfriend now thinks he's a model…hahahaha.
The photos were lovely! My family all got one for Christmas.
We were refunded the £45- so this is no scam! But i decided to put that money towards the pictures that I bought.
In All I had a lovely day and I think you should all have a go! The majority of posts on here are not accurate at all- I doubt they have even visited the place!
Its £45 deposit and it is refunded on the day. studio is imaculate and staff are amazing! thunbs up from me!! go enjoy it!0 -
This sounds like a total con  to me.
If you win a competition, you should'nt have to part with any money in order to claim it!!!Massive Thanks to all who post comps :A0 -
All the newbies signing up and there first post's are in defense of the diabolical service and tactics are of Skylite studios. Honestly, do they all think we just come over on a banana boat? Still, the stories provide light entertainment. :T:rotfl:0

Menumanum... du du dududu. Menumanum du du dudu.
(Muppet music. They obviously think we have the whole bl**dy show going on with MSE members.)
Get real, losers (scammers - not members!). If you win a competition, you don't pay. If someone wins a makover, let the comp organisers pay the deposit. If they lose it, they lose it.
Gawd, people really do talk some sh*te. Join up, post one thing in defense of a company we all know are scammers (or at least not entirely honest about it being a 'win') and bu*ger off.
Grrrrrrrrr.
Jx (Gonzo to her friends)2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0 -
Its a scam - there seem to be several companies (well probably one using different names) phoning with the same package!!!

Yes it is a con in some ways, but as people have said, you can haggle significantly (I got two photos for £30) and it is a fun day so you are paying for the experience too. Just don't see it as a competition win as that way you will be disappointed. I got a load of photoshop training for free too

I would suspect the CAB or someone would have something to say about them refusing to refund deposits if no photos are bought, that must be illegal.Weight loss: Start weight: 80kg; Current Weight: 77kg; Target weight: 55kg0
