well i've been there done it and got the dress..................lol.......just
after seeing my only daughter off, i now have time to reflect, on would i do anything different.
And the answer is no, we didn't have a massive wedding, and we/daughter wanted to do it as cheap and nice as possible, leaving them with enough cash to go on honeymoon with, and they have just landed in mexico for their 2 week honeymoon.
daughter had the dress she wanted, money wasn't a issue with this, hers cost £500 with alterations.
2 bridesmaid and 1 paige boy
1 vintage white rolls royce
nice church service, with church decorated, and a choir
traditional photographer, as she wants a traditional weddign album
venue afterwards a local restaurant where we offered people a choice of what they wanted to eat,
i had
starters - warm salad of chicken, chorizo and black pudding with garlic croutons and balsamic syrup dressing
main - braidsed leg of lamb, on a creamy herb mash with rosemary and redcurrant sauce, with vegetables
for desert i had, baileys cheescake
followed with coffee/tea and chocolate
there was other choices on the menu and the kids all had cheesy bread for starters, chicken gougions for main with chips and ice-cream for afters
we had bucksfizz on arrival, champagne for the toast, red and white wine on the tables, and a free bar.
that for 46 of us came in at just over £1 100
But what we wanted was an evening to remember and boy did we have that, we booked the biggest labour club that we had in town, holds over 300 people, we invited 300 people and got 240 on the night, we decorated the room with baloons, and did a finger buffet costing £4.75 a head, which included hot food like black puding, pizza, roast potatoes, chips.
we waited until everyone had arrived and we started the buffet at 8.50pm, because of the amount of people that would be eating, by 9.45pm most people had eaten and we had a live band, they were great did all modern songs, including the great, don't stop believing, and had the dance floor buzzing, then for the last 45 mins one of the lad did a dj spot for us, but we played girls v boys dance offs, and at the end they got my daughter up on chair in the middle of the floor, and we all dance around her, to daft songs like the music man.
Night eneded at 1.00am next day when i went to pick the cake up, the girl behind the bar said that the bar staff had had a great time, and got lots of tips..lol
If i had my time to do it over again, would i change any of the above no not any of it.
But i do wish i had got a friend to take loads more photos than i did, as the mother of the bride and a few of my close family said, you spend a lot of your time talking to family members and you don't take photos, and i didn't take ones that i wanted to take outside.
I wish i had given my cousin a list of who i wanted my photo taking with, because he would have organised it for me, as i spent to much time chatting.

Chris- the photos will come flooding in - and they will be more natural, cos you're not posing for them...!!
I am so glad that you all had a great day - the photos that I've seen look perfect. Your daughter (and you!) look so happy.
I hope that they have a great honeymoon and come back all relaxed and even more in love..!!
Oh - and i think that you might have changed the stress with the dress on the morning of the wedding, wouldn't you???Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! They are in mexico,
i've heard from them, and they are having a good time and have done a few tours, but they said that the weather is awful, no sun and a lot of cloud, they havent' been swimming once.
But it's a honeymoon after all, so i guess they will be enjoying it other ways.xxx0
