Tesco

I have only started looking at this forum since the begining of the week, and i picked up some great tips for cutting my weekly shopping bill,so thanks !!

But,i have noticed that quite a few of you shop at Tesco,is it as good value as Morrisons,Asda,Kwik Save etc? or do you shop around and go to were the bargains are? I would have though Lidl and Aldi have good value products but i haven't seen them mentioned.

I use Tesco, because of the internet money off vouchers that i get which pays for the delivery charge. Plus i am a dreadful spendthrift, when i shop online, i dont spend as much.

A lot of us use tesco cos we find we spend less online than clopping around the shop. Aldi/Lidl are a similar quality to tesco regular/finest lines but cheaper. Tesco Value range is cheaper but not always as good quality IMO.

I've tried most own brand value ranges and think Tesco is the best. HTH

  • Thanks.

But where do you get these internet money off vouchers?

Being new to this game,i have always paid full price e.g £5.99 for delivery, this would save me a fortune !

  • Carl - are you home midweek?

If you get the shopping delivered on Tues or Weds, it's only £3.99 for delivery. They work from 9am-11pm, so you should be able to pick something to suit!
    They call me Mr Pig!
  • Did my first proper (as in not a misprice lol) shop with Tesco this week. I stuck to all the tinned and heavy stuff, but I couldn't believe how much was delivered!

Loads of BOGOF's and had a £10 off £50 voucher because I'd not shopped with them for a while :D so ended up with £61 worth for £41

And the Wolf Party thingies at a penny a pack are going down a storm too ;)

Need to sort out a freezer shop there next.

I shop at Lidl, I think it's great value. I used to shop at Asda but I think Lidl is better quality. The only problem is that you can't get everything you need there. But if you are going to go the whole hog you'll be buying stuff from the greengrocers and butchers anyway ;).
I haven't managed this yet, I do get bulk packs from the butchers on the market once every few months but Lidl is 1/2 mile walk and open until 8pm but my local greengrocers is about 3 miles away and I can only get there on Saturdays when it is really busy, and I hate shopping when it's busy.
The other problem with Lidl/ Aldi is that, to keep costs down, they only employ about 5 people at each shop so on a Saturday there are only ever 2 check outs open and it can take as long to queue as it does to buy a trolley full. I go at 7pm on a week night (not Mon or Thurs which are offer nights) and there is usually no-one waiting.
When life hands you a lemon, make sure you ask for tequilla and salt ;)
