Do you barter? Do you trade your personal skills in return for someone else's?
For example, my dh's friend is a great carpenter (my dh isn't too hot on practical things) but then his friend isn't so hot when it comes to writing "official" letters so, when it comes to him needing letters, I do those and in time, when we need a door hanging or some other carpentry task, he does it for us.
No money exchanges hands, yet we all feel we have paid our way.
What "skills" do you trade in return for others? Do you restrict doing it with just friends and family or do you have a bartering ring in your area?

I bought a new kitchen a couple of years ago, and needed to have it put in. A friend was desperate for a few days child care, and as I work in a school, I had the holidays free. So I looked after her two kids for three days, and her husband (who was a former kitchen fitter) put my kitchen in!
I think I got the better deal, but we were both satisfied, so that was the main thing!I Believe in saving money!!!:T

So far, I only barter with my fella. But he does handyman jobs for his parents, and they give him a little cash every so often, which is really appreciated, once we got over the surprise the first time it was offered.0
