How about a charm bracelet? Buy a charm celebrating that she has been born and then you can add to it over the years (birthdays, first tooth etc) and by the time shes old enough to wear it responsibly then it will be full of charms!

I did this for my beloved God daughter, and I buy her a new charm every year, on the annivesrary of her Baptism. It's a lovely, personal, gift that not everyone else can share in, and symbolises our very special relationship
Plus it is 9ct gold and therefore, hopefully, by the time she is 18, will be worth something if she decides to sell it and go travelling or something - which would absolutely be with my blessing Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0 -
i too was going to suggest the charm bracelet...i did this for a friends lil girl..i bought her boots and a pram when she was born...something xmassy for 1st xmas and a hedgehog and 'a' for her 1st bday...if she had of been my lil girl i wouldve continued it on...first day of school etc..then it is something she will appreciate as she gets older.
i had also got her a scarab for goodluck and a key of life for prosperity from egypt (from my visit there)0 -
