in Cutting tax
Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone can help me.
If a property is now vacant and up for sale, who is responsible for paying the Council Tax, is it the person that lived there or the deed owner.
Cheers

Generally the (deed) owner. In particular, if the property had been let and the tenancy is ended, the former tenant would not be liable.
If the owner is deceased, the estate (executors) would be responsible.
Would you like to give us more details?Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac

There are some exemptions for empty houses in certain circumstances, but - generally - the house owner is responsible for any CT due.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac
