Ring up the company and explain that you are having financial difficulties and would like to see if it is possible to make reduced payments until you are back on your feet. They should offer to put you on some kind of arrangement or payment plan where you pay much less than you would normally, providing you haven't ran into difficulties with your payments before.

The only downside is that it may affect your credit rating as it would show up as an arrangment plan. However, in my opinion it's worth it in the long run as it's worse paying nothing atall and then having sleepless nights!

    Good luck :D
  • With only 5 months remaining is it possible to negotiate a deal to hand the car back? Perhaps paying 50% of what you owe?

ive paid it for 3 years dont want to just give the car back to them do you know if i could make a one off low paymet to clear the car off
  • I'd ring them, I think they will be helpful. In the past I've done this and been offered either a settlement fingure to kep the car, or had the option to pay back 50% of what's owed and hand the car back.

The purchase price the offer you will reflect current market values I'd expect.
  • i rangmy finance company and they said i would have to pay the full settlement figure and couldnt settle it for anything less
