CCJ help wanted

Hi
I am sorry if this is in the wrong place. I need some urgent advice.
I get a lot of spam mail from company's addressing me as 'Mr' and not 'Miss', which i found out came from an old marketing company that somehow had me on file as Mr. Considering this annoys me a lot i tend to bin them, because obviously they dont have the right details for me, so i consider it junk mail.
I got a ltter this morning i opened as it was in red addressed to MR ***** ****** which isnt my name.. i am female.
It is a CCJ issued for Seven Trent Water for £230, for MR not MISS. I have no idea about this as obviously i am not male. I dont know where it comes from, but obviously i need to try and find out on Monday, but what defence do i have considering this is issued with a different title?
I feel foolish for binning letters, but i am not in debt at all other than this apprently, and my credit rating was always good. I dont hold credit cards and always pay bills when they come in.
I am baffled to be honest

Hi
Can you recall when you last paid your water bill? Do you have it set up on DD? Have ST always written to you as Mr? Have you ever corrected them?
Is this letter for a CCJ just issued? If you owe it and can pay withing 30days of it being issued then you can make sure it doesn't affect your credit rating going forward.
If its older you may be able to get the judgement set aside, but I'm not sure if the fact that its addressed to MR would be enough to qualify - here is a bit of guidance - http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/england_wales/factsheet.php?page=12_how_to_set_aside_a_judgment_in_the_county_courtA smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
For this address it is paid by the landlord, as we rent, so i am not noted down here.
Previously it was always set as Miss at my old address
I will phone the number on the letter on Monday and clear it, but obviously i am concerned this is for someone else0 -
Hi sybafairy
My first question would be: Are you responsible for paying your water bill, and if so, have you been paying it?
If not, then the semantics over the Mr/Miss confusion may not wash particularly well with the court - is the name correct?
If you believe you owe your water bill and the amount stated on the CCJ, then you need to get this sorted asap - it may be that if you are liable for the full amount but you can't afford to pay it in one go - you can apply to the court to have the CCJ 'varied' to an amount you can afford each month - you'll need an N245 form available from the court and you'll have to pay a fee for the court to reassess - depending on your financial circumstances.
Further information can be found here about CCJs:

Others here may have a different opinion of course about your liability.

CCJs are issued by a County Court (usually Northampton) and DO NOT use red ink. They are headed 'judgement for claimant'
What have you actually had and from who?0
