I was delighted to receive a free copy of the book, thanks to moneysavingexpert. It is an absolute delight. The two authors describe the nation's favourite foods in a light-heated but informative style. It is splendidly illustrated with pictures of the products and much publicity material, some of it hilarious in its style and content. I especially appreciated the historical notes and gradings for each product. These latter encompassed their survivability, trolley embarrassment factor and versatility. Colman's mustard scored well on all three but Shippam's Fish Paste did badly. Anybody fancy one of the authors' favourites: a ready salted crisp-and-salad-cream sandwich on sliced white, followed by a French Fancy?
