Vinegar might work but I overheard a group of ants recently warning others to stay away from the baking soda if that's any good!0

Sprinkle sage around affected areas and in cupboard corners this will repel the little boogers
cucumber peelings sprinkled with salt leave them around where the ants are they run away screaming
strange as it sounds draw a chalk line on the floor or walls or window sills and they wont walk across it
and yes ::) ::)spray neat vinegar on the outside of your windows and polish off with newspaper and they drop down in a coma as soon as they land on the glass
;D
for next years visitors, plant nicotena in the garden they wont go near you they hate the stuff

Seem to be inundated with flying ants in the garden,
Cathy,
What do you suggest for bruises after slipping on the cucumber peelings (with salt) and landing face first in a pile of sage on your way to the nicotene plant to roll your next fag?!;D

Its not necessarily cheap but there is a great liquid ant destroyer called NIPPON. It works by killing the ants in the nest before they start to swarm.
Apply it to non absorbent surfaces when you see little worker ants. i.e. before the flying monsters swarm.
The drawback is that you have to be a little patient as initially the workers devour the stuff and you have little clumps of ants gorging themselves before they groggily stumble back to poison the rest of the nest.
No use on flying ants who are swarming to find new living quarters. Boiling water and good old fly spray are the best here.Keep trying.........................what else is there to do?
