Sony NWZ-A729 16GB mp3/video walkman £69.99

What's the deal?
Argos's eBay clearance page, clearancebargains, is selling last year's 16GB Sony video walkman for £69.99. This is apparently 50% off, though that's a bit of push since I've seen it elsewhere for around £100. Nonetheless, for a well-specced, good quality portable music and video player this is a good price.
How to get one:
If you fancy this, just go to the eBay auction page and use Buy It Now to get it for £69.99. Postage is free, and you get a 12-month warranty (as well as the manufacturer's warranty). If you don't have an eBay account, it's free to sign up, just follow the instructions.
What's it got?
As well as 16GB of storage space, which Sony claims is enough for 3,800 songs, or 62hrs of video (compressed quite a lot), you get decent quality 'EX' headphones. The biggest boon however must be the battery life; rated at up to 36 hours for audio playback (up to 9 for video).
The screen's pretty small at 2.4", but that's still bigger than the iPod nano's, and this is half the price of the 16GB nano. In terms of files it'll play MP3, AAC, WMA, WAV, and DRM-protected subscription music files, so you should have no troubles there, and sound-quality is generally rated very highly too, with various EQ settings to play about with.

There are plenty of other models as well, in a range of colours and memory sizes:

Some are refurbs; some brand new.0 -
I bought this from PLAY.COM a couple of weeks ago for £99.99 less 5% RAC code and using Quidco = approx £92. The big difference is that the play .com Sony comes with Sony Bluetooth Headphones (so called £40 by themselves) which are very simple to use and are superb, far better than the supplied wired headphones , i walk around with the player in my pocket and listen wirelessly , so good !!!!!!!
The sound out of the Sony is also very very good and the menu is very easy to use with "DRAG AND DROP" for putting on MP3 ,s on from a computer . There are loads of options to change the sound as well = equalizer to your preference.

Agree with the these comments. I have an S639 16gb which is great. So easy to add music (I hated itunes), and the SenseMe channels are great (9 music styles - electronic, classic, pop ballads, upbeat etc.) as they automatically sort your music within the 9 catagories and create a shuffle playlist. there is even a time of day specific catagory that changes (morning, day, evening etc.) with upbeat in the morning, and more gentle music at night, etc..
Very easy search by artist, song title or album. Album search can be by thumbnail or title.
Mine currently has 3250 songs on, and still over 1gb of space left. Battery lasts for ages0 -
I have the 8gb version and wouldn't be without it!
I do get some pitch-changes (odd) with the bluetooth but its bearable for the fact that I can put it in a corner and workout in the gym without wires getting in my way!
You can also use any bluetooth earphones if the on-ear type do not workout for you (or even any other normal earphones- it takes both). But the MP3 comes with 1 pair of in-ear wired earphones, and one pair of bluetooth on-ear earphones.
Also very very easy to load with music- just plug in and the software is so straightforward!-
sorry for going on- I bought mine just under a year ago when they first came out and still think its the best MP3 player I've had! (aside from the pitch loss!)0 -
Thanks, I love Sony!
I bought this other Sony model from amazon last month for £99 and love it...just read the reviews. It is more expensive but it has more features.

Great player though - makes the original player in the first post seem even more of a bargain now!!

That's the one I have too but in black and it's brilliant, though I bought it much cheaper than that. I had an iPod before the Sony and would never go back! The earphones supplied with the S639FS are also superb.Dry January: 31/31 days. :T0 -
I'm getting a transaction blocked 'this seller has decided that you are not permitted to bid on their listings' message which is worrying as I've 100% positive feedback.0
