A + L 3.99% 5 year fix scary call!!!

Options
I called A+L this am for a little query i had , at the end of the call i mentioned that even though my new KFI related to another deal i was still getting the 5 year fix no fees at 3.99% , his reply was :

" No sir we have nothing here to suggest that your getting that deal"

I was shocked , i explained that i was told not to worry and would get the 3.99% deal and that all calls are recorded , he said

" we will have to pass this on and get the call screened , someone will call you back within 7 hours sir."

So to all those who were promised the A+L deal watch out !!!!

So you received written KFI details for some deal other than the '5 year fix no fees at 3.99%' deal, and are surprised that you will get the deal you have written KFI details for, and not the '5 year fix no fees at 3.99%' deal???

I had the KFI for the 5 year deal fix 3.99% , i needed to change it abit , but the deal was pulled and i didnt get a call back , when i called to explain they said they will still honour the 3.99% 5 year fix but as the deal is no longer on their system they cant send updated KFIs with that deal and it will show another deal , but dont worry you will get the 5 year fix @ 3.99% , and all calls are recorded anyway .

Im hoping its just one dept not knowing what the other is doing .

Im getting a call back within 72hours !!!!!

I know many others here had the same happen to them !!!

basically I had a premier account, which I stopped using and was waiting a while until I utilised it again. The balance was £3 and my savings account had £30 in it. Hidden in the small print for the account is a £5 underusage charge, which they charged me after 6 months without informing me by post. They then charged me £5 a day thereafter for being £2 O/D and still didn't send me any notification.

I found out by seeing my credit file when preparing to apply for a mortgage, my accounts never go O/D. There was a 2 months in arrears by the A+L mark which lowered my credit score nearly 400 points. I called A+L to get this sorted and they said not there problem "they can only reffer me to the T&Cs. Fair enough, I said I'd pay the £5 under usage fee but I would like my mark removed from my file. They refused, and said they would only remove it if I paid the £70 charge for being £2 overdrawn, they knew I would as they knew I needed it removing to apply for my mortgage.

They then dragged their heels removing the mark and needed many prompts and I nearly lost the house as their was other bidders.

I never did anything wrong, and they put my credit file into mayhem for basically not knowing every detail in my T&Cs. They said they informed me on the online statement, which they could see I had not logged into in 6 months.

Very angry and feel in this case although the T&Cs had been broken that common sense would prevail. And that the punishment didn't even closely match the crime.

I had something very similar with the A&L last year. I opened a current account and a regular saver, and their switching service failed to transfer my salary mandate from my previous bank.

They transferred an amount from the current account to the regular saver, but there were no funds in the current account to cover them because the switching service had not worked. The fees were over £100 within a week, and they would not entertain the fact it was their fault in any way.

A&L has the worst customer service of any bank I have come across, light years away from something like First Direct. However, I am not sure it would stop me jumping on a deal like this.

Same experience and hence now closed the account, but it is still accessible on line!!!!!

Have accused them of underhand tricks but they do not seem to have any shame or moral!
