From the Pure Money section to the Work and Benefit section (I think)

Yeh I'm happy where it is tbh.0

The Work and Benefits section is a mess at the moment - threads are all over the place - I don't think it would help either this board or the ones already there to move it.Gone ... or have I?0

Pensions for the majority are investments. So, I think its worth leaving in the money section.
Are there many misposts in the work and benefits section regarding pensions?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

TBH I can't remember the last time I saw any thread about pensions in the W&B's section (someone will no doubt prove me wrong and post one now)!
I agree that pensions should be kept with other long term financial products, such as mortgages, savings and investments. Those with specialist knowledge in this area are more likely to be found in the Pure Money section. Also, a great deal of posts on W&B's are based on opinion as opposed to fact, which could be dangerous when dealing with such a large financial decision.
Do we know why the move has been suggested? Seems a case of changing something that doesn't need to be fixed?Gone ... or have I?0 -
And considering there are only a few regulars who post on here (I'm trying to learn more about pensions but don't want to bug Dunston too much lol). I find it rather convinient that the order goes Savings and Investments -> Pensions -> Budgeting, as these are the 3 I tend to browse!0

Not sure about that but I would suggest that State Pension has its own board - it's such a large, complicated topic and affects every one of us.0

It makes more sense (to me) to keep it here.0

That concept is a blast from the past. Back in the days when everyone had final salary pensions and could ignore the investments it could have made some sense.
Today? Final salary pensions are dead and pensions are the biggest single set of investments most people can be expected to make, with their investment choices within the pension critical to obtaining a good pension income. The investments and how to manage them are largely unrelated to work, completely so for personal pensions not arranged through the workplace. The income after retirement is also unrelated to work and using income drawdown and staying invested while retired is rapidly increasing in popularity.
Seems like a backwards look at how pensions might have been viewed years ago, before the A-Day changes, and not how people have to view them these days.
If they belong with anything it's the other new substantial tool for retirement income planning, the stocks and shares ISA, with its advantages for tax free income and avoiding age allowance reduction.
Both pensions and S&S ISAs are the modern tools for investment-backed mortgages and those also have nothing at all to do with the workplace.0
