The Budget (Wed 22 March)

This Wednesday, 22 March, is Budget day. As always tobbacco, petrol and alcohol prices are likely to rise (at least in line with inflation). So if you indulge in any of these vices stock up now. Petrol prices rise on the day, so try and fill up before. The price of alcohol and cigarettes tends to rise as shops restock, so buying sooner rather than later is usually a good idea.

Better buy a bottle of gin now whilst it's cheaper! I don't smoke but my dad smokes rollies (I know, I can't get him to stop) and I buy his tips & papers from the pound shop so I don't think they'll be going up0

I never thought I'd be able to give up so never triedbut I can tell you that if you put your mind to it you can do it! mind you, I will admit that I've used patches, lozengers and chewing gum!
but 3 weeks in (on Wed) and it's getting to the point where I've stopped obsessing and I've come off the patches and all the family are still alive! Instead of buying cigarettes, I now come on here, see all the bargains and buy everything! ha ha!! it's great.

I keep thinking of what I could be spending all that money on instead, but I still dont have enough willpower! lol
I gave up when I had bad flu last year, lasted all of 6 weeks, then smoked a whole ciggie without even realising it!! (was in a stressful moment at the time! lol) Cant understand how come my hubby just decided one day he'd had enough and has never smoked since.........same as my mum, mum in law, brother (who smoked twice as much as me!!) without any additional tools to help! lol
Congratulations to you though.....well done, I know its not easy, and you have my full admiration! Keep it up! :T :T :TTatts :hello: :kisses2:0 -

Aww thanks  It's a struggle but so worth it. Know what you mean about the husband..!! mine stopped on the same day as me and didn't use any nicotine replacement stuff  he just gave up.. bang! was so impressed but asked him why on earth he didn't give up years ago??
My tip is to give yourself a good talking to! take a couple of months to get your head around it, set a date, and go for it.. oh and stock up with all the nicorette/nicotinell products.I smoked for 21 years btw and smoked a pack a day, so no lightweight smoker!! :rotfl: I've decided to drink more instead!

Same as my dad 10 years+ ago my mum 4 years ago and my OH 4 years ago.
Dad's was due to a Cancer scare thought he had Mouth cancer.
Mum and OH just decided enough was enough. Proud of all of em, unfortunately, I lost dad on Boxing day last year (05) to cancer which spread from the lung - i'm lucky enough to never of started! It's nice to be nutty but's more important to be nice0 -
Right, must fill up the tank tonight and then buy a few packets of fags too, i'll leave the booze as I only buy it on offer anyway so it doesn't seem so bad!
PS I don't drive a tank, though that would be REALLY cool!! :j0 -
I'm going to get my tax disc renewed this afternoon. It doesn't run out until the end of the month but there's every chance that'll go up too.0
