Weekly Flylady Thread 19th January 2009

Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week when it comes to housework, or just the motivation to do the dreaded housework tasks you have to do, come and join us, hopefully make it a little easier. You never know, you might start to enjoy it!
Following requests to start things steadier for new members who did not realise the tasks list wasn’t a must do, just an encouragement. There will now be level 1, 2 and 3. Level 1 being very basic it has been requested that this is just one task per day, level 2 in the middle, up to 3 which is more advanced and time consuming. If you want to do level 2 you add the tasks on level 1 with the level 2 tasks, if you want to do level 3 you add the tasks on, easy peasy. Choose a level to aim for but be realistic, if you’ve got a busy day on or are just starting etc aim for level one, if you get higher then great, if not then not to worry its only suggestions. Every room comes back around next week. Trust me some days I'll only be doing level one myself.
THESE LISTS ARE ONLY SUGGESTIONS AND NOT A MUST DO LIST, ALWAYS WELCOME TO POST AND FOLLOW YOUR OWN.
Also adding a declutter mission each day. Another one where it’s up to you if you want to do it or if you need to. This follows requests from members who are looking to declutter. Fling boogies, hotspot clearing, cupboard sorts, drawer sorts etc will all be on this list. Any problems with this of any suggestions do please let me know.
A few of the basics before we start the week
Hotspots are any areas which if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!
Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc
Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.
Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a binbag and whizz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.
Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis
HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!
5GC five minutes gardening.. make it lovely for your family and enjoy it!

My M.A.C.A.W challenge this week is..............
Small announcement!!.. I REALLY don't want to do this but I feel I must.
In the last few weeks the thread has grown exponentially.. which is brilliant and wonderful and I am so pleased to welcome new fly-bodies... BUT.. this also means that some members are unable to participate as they are overwhelmed by the sheer number of posts and cannot keep up. I value ALL the members, the ones who post once a day and the ones who don't post at all and the ones who we all know so intimately. However, I feel there is a lot of 'chitchat' and general gossipy posts being made which have no relevance to the thread. Could all member PLEASE remember this a thread to support each other in flying and decluttering and making their homes beautiful and try to keep the posts on topic (not to the exclusion of all gossip!).
I'm sorry I have to do this but alas.. you all waffle too much!!
We have a lovely little community and I do not want anyone to feel excluded from this.
We have the yahoo group and the facebook group if people want to chat over there that is wonderful but can we please keep THIS thread on track. I know you don't want to lose it any more than I do!
The weekends you can chat to your hearts content..

No such luck!! Like I'd let you all off the hook... I'm not that daft!!
Anyway.. no news from me other than I've been busy.. had a couple of dashes to hospital with DS's gf she has an infection etc..
Noone is ill or broken or deceased or run away (apart from me but I'm home again now) and all is well..
I have been tidying my bedroom.. my camera is flat so you haven't got before pics but it has taken me 5 HOURS to do about 1/4 of the room.. yes it is THAT bad.
I have thrown out a huge wooden chest, 3 bedside cupboards and 4 binbags of rubbish. I have 1 binbag for charity shop and a box of stuff for my sisters baby. I also dumped a couple of baby blankets on DS's Gf ..
I threw 2 pairs of shoes in the bin
I cleared a shelf and refilled it with stuff from the floor
I found 27 bottles of my shampoo, 5 for the children and 6 bottles of bubble bath... best get washed!
This week hubby is buying me paint!
I even.. washed the window!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Thought you'd try to get ahead of us with tomorrow's list, did you?We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -
Hi and thanks for the list pigpen and glad to see you posting - we were all worried. I suddenly remembered you were going to be at your bedroom this afternoon and hoped you hadnt got buried under boxes or something!
Sounds like you have made good progress even though you say it is only 1/4 of the room - are you going to keep at it this week until it is finished?

Pigpen thanks for posting, hope everything is ok with you and yours. Understand you're a bit hectic right now and if you need me to do the lists just shout!
CS yes I understand what you mean by his invitation etc but at present he's still not answering phone, went to manchester somewhere I think at 8am this morning and from what he said he told them to come over for 6.30pm. I doubt he'll even be home before 7.30pm! I did say ok yesterday but after a rough night with DS1 and not managing physically to get things done I needed to, I don't want them to come over. Problem is he's not answering his phone and I don't have their numbers....bother! I'm not usually a grumphonest.
I'm in, for what it's worth. Weeks a bit full. Meetings Monday, Thursday, Friday. Toddlers hopefully on Wednesday with little M as he loved it last week. Decorating needs starting..........will wait and see if what DP said happens!
Been working hard since I posted on the other thread. Done under sofas, found 100 or so dishwasher tablets under the stairs (see I knew there would be more!) Cleared most of the kitchen benches (one small area to do) cleaned up moonsand off the utility floor, vacuumed/mopped kitchen and utility, DW been emptied/refilled/back on, WM emptied/hung on airers/refilled/on, some more recycling sorted, some paperwork sorted....think that's all.
Back to more housework after a quick email check xOne day I might be more organised...........
