changing our details to a rented address

As my first post, apologies if it's in the wrong place or doesn't contain enough information...
My boyfriend and I are currently argueing over whether to change our (joint) current account address to our new rented flat's address...so I'm hoping for some advice...
My mum claims if we do this, it will act negatively in future mortgage applications, as we will be seen to be moving around a lot (we will be renting for at least two more years) and so our credit score would be negativly influenced. She thinks, we would be risking being 'associated' with the current tenant and if they had a bad finance history, we would be linked to it?
However...
My boyfriends parents say it doesn't matter and it's annoying having our post going to their house (as they have to forward it on). (My boyfriend is the first name on the account and so it's registered at his parents address).
Also...incase it helps;
We've both never changed our addressess from our parents addresses, even whilst at uni.
We're not intending on moving house within the next 12 months.
We don't know the history of the previous tenants and so I'm reluctant to have my name associated with the house, thus risking problems with credit scoring in the future?
So to conclude, I'd love to know whether it would be sensible to change the address to our rented house, or leave the joint account (and most likely our personal accounts) at our parents addresses. Our aim, is to gain the most favourable credit scoring for a mortgage application in around 18 months-2 years time.
I've read the credit history page, however, I'm still not sure whether we should change our address/es.
Thank you in advance:D

Might be wrong but one of the checks will be the electoral role and I guess you will be listed in your rented place and not your parents.
You will also need to be registered there for council tax.
I have moved through rented and not had any problems with credit. Forms tend to ask for a previous address if you have been less than 3 years so you would then give your parents address as the previous0 -
Ahhh I hadn't thought about the electoral role. We're registered as paying council tax in our flat, does that automatically register us for the electoral role? I'm aware my name was on the last letter my parents had confirming those at their house (we only moved a month ago).
(thank you for the quick reply!)If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0 -
The electoral roll is separate to Council Tax, registration for each needs to be done separately.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0

So get both your names on the electoral roll - contact the Council and get the form and amendments can be noted at any time, not just annually.
Get your bank statements sent to your home (rented flat) address.0 -
It could cause problems if, years down the line, you put the date you moved in on some banking info (guessing here)
It's best to be completely truthful about where you live0
