Original I won post and prize
Helloooo
I am back from my London Weekend, and it was utterly brilliant! one last thank you lovely Al Mac
Started badly as the taxi didn't turn up so missed the ferry and planned train connection that Splenda had booked but luckily it was an open ticket so we were just half an hour later than planned. We arrived at the hotel at check in time, and wow!! how the other half live! thank heavens we didn't accept the invitation to take a glass of wine before we went to the room tho!! We were told at check in that we had been given a free upgrade to an even posher room!! Once in the room I picked up the tarriff :eek: it was £10 for a GLASS of wine in any of the bars (luckily, money saving me had thought to pack a bottle of Tesco Chillean £2.49 el plonko
), the mini bar was so extortionate we were reading the list and laughing til tears came down our faces!! £3 for the Mars bar that was sat so enticingly in there and £7.50 for each miniture spirit!! and finally, breakfast......... if you fancied full English it was only £27!!! (fortunately brekkie was part of the prize so we are still stuffed now hehe) The room was out of this world, we felt like rock stars, the bed was HUGE with pillows the size of sofas.
As it was right on Hyde Park Corner and opposite the gates to Hyde Park we went out in the afternoon and had a normal priced coffee (£4.50 in hotel lol) and walked the whole way round the Serpentine and saw pretty odd things! WILD parrots in the trees... is this a known fact? are there escaped colonies of parrots in London?? We saw a greyhound catch and kill a squirrel
We saw giant crayfish in the Serpentine and hand fed the squirrel’s ( the live ones) I couldn’t believe the number of people that use the park on a regular basis, living on the Island we have so many places to go, you barely see anyone, but Hyde Park was packed with runners and bladers and people walking their dogs and kiddies on bikes, totally different world to ours!
We went back and watched the footy results :rolleyes: and had a lazy hour before getting ready to go to Notting Grill, then left the hotel where the doorman summond us a taxi! Arrived at the restaurant which was fantastic! Really relaxed atmosphere superb staff and food to die for
it was brilliant! After a taxi back to the hotel we spotted that the Hard Rock caf! was literally 2 mins from the hotel so we went there next for a couple of hours then back to the humungous bed, with the complimentary slippers that had been left for us!! (I brought them home
)
This morning we made full use of the incredible shower, and……. The Elemis products filling the bathroom (yes, I pinched em and brought them home too hehe
:o) Then went for our gold plated breakfast lol. Then, just as we were heading for the tube station we caught The Horsegaurds Parade, which just about sealed a wonderful trip. It was definitely the best prize yet, I am thrilled! xx

lol yes Chris we were people watching (as well as drinking teehee), especially when the stretched limo's were pulling up, I half recognised one group of young lads as an indie band but couldn't remember which one :rolleyes:
Tmk, I could have filled a suitcase believe me, they even had Elemis soap and handcream in the loos off the hotel restaurant, although, I think even I would have drawn a line at taking those home hehe.
