School Transport

A point worth considering is that even if there are other children in the taxi, Someone gotta be first to get in it and therefore "they are alone with a stranger"
My friend grandaughter is 2 and in care of social services, She arrives in a taxi on her own for contact visits every week. Now that is wrong0 -
How old is this very very young child? He/she must be rising 5, not a baby. If I were you I would see if there is any way you could travel with him for first couple of times so he gets to know the journey. To say you dont care how much it costs is annoying unless you plan to pay for it yourself because guess who pays? it is not the council.
I would get the car out and take him myself if I didnt think he could cope.
I genuinely do not give a hoot about how much it costs or how annoyed you seem to feel by this statement. I care about two factors: a) the Council fulfilling their legal duty to provide suitable transport (regardless of cost); and b) that all small children, whether mine, yours, Baby Leo Blair, or those of immigrants down at the council flats, have transport as safe as possible without havign to endure risks because the Council was unable to accurately forecast a transport requirement when making an allocation of a school.
I owe no transport duty to the Council. The Counil 100% owes eligible children the transport service. Neither you nor I have a role in the budgeting or cost-effectiveness. The children's interests are paramount and if your Council tax goes up as a result, vote differently next time.0 -

But if there were any other passengers, someone local who was also a passenger would always be able to know the last time and place the child was was seen in the taxi. That has great significance if something terrible ever happened, as well as in deterring something from happening. Also, if there was an escort then the child would not be alone with one other person.0 -
My mistake I thought the fact that your child was going in the taxi alone meant there were no other local children! How are the others getting to school?0

You really did not have to say that you only care about yourself, Everyone can see that. I note you did not respond to the positive points in my post and chose instead to be disrespectful. You and and your "me me me" attitude everything that is wrong with this country. For your information the immigrants you speak of do not all live in council flats, Those that do probably have a better attitude than you.
Despite being asked several times by other posters you have not said how old the very very very young child is, which suggests they are not very very young.
The council ARE paying for your child if thats not good enough take them yourself.
kissmeimposh ? dont think so luv ignoremeimrude more like0 -
VOSA seems only to be related to roadworthiness
No........it's remit is far wider.how much I care about the safe transport of my child
What you havn't explained is why you consider that your child is not safe when being transported to school in a Taxi ??
Why would your child be any safer being transported in a Coach with a driver who will have undergone a far less stringent vetting process ??You ahve two kids on taxi, presumably travelling together
No both my kids go by Coach (the oldest my MiniBus and then Coach)
If you are unhappy with the Taxi option I am sure the Council could easily contract a 53 seat Coach and driver to carry your child alone to school...........I am sure the child will be much safer travelling that way !!!'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
