Did anyone get a letter from Readers Digest yesterday saying there is a missing winner of the £20,000 draw and your number was similar?!!! (They will contact you in 72 hours.)

One of the things that worries me about Readers Digest competitions these days, is their legal stuff to receive a free book, followed by another library load of books that you will have to pay for if you don't manage to contact them in time. It seems to me to be a rather dubious way to run a special promotions campaign. I am under the impression that many people get into difficulties with unwanted books and the inability to contact them in time.
I am thinking of writing to the lottery omsbudsman to see if this form of free draw attached to the promise to accept books is actually legal in UK.[ Eat, Drink and be Merry - for tomorrow we get the bill ]0 -
I can't believe those shysters at Readers Digest are stiill going...when my OH broke his ankle he was bored enough to do it then when he got fed up it took ages to get rid of them.Laughing at my ancient signature...voodoobaby now 10 years old:eek:0

I didn't really believe anyone actually ever won. Then my uncle who was home with flu, returned a Readers Digest leaflet that fell out of a TV mag. He didn't subscribe or get any unsolictated mail/books after.
Out of the blue he got a letter to say he'd won £13 thousand !!
He lived in Scotland and had to fly down to London to get his cheque.
By the time he'd got home his 7 kids (widower), had booked hairdressing appointments in Vidal Sasson, and ordered bikes for each of them.
So someone somewhere does actually win, seems that it isn't someone who gets the junk mail/books and endless letters they never want.
LLWe are all in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars........................0
