Fairy will make a £1 donation to the Make-A-Wish Charity, if you register your intention of walking one mile on 27th December.
http://www.freshliving.com/dwish/main2a.htm
"Each year, Fairy organises a one mile walk on behalf of Make-A-Wish® in the UK and Ireland – the charity that grants the wishes of children aged 3 to 18 living with life-threatening illnesses. This year we’re getting as many people up and down the country as possible Walking for Wishes on the 27th December – and for every person that registers to walk, Fairy will donate £1 to Make-A-Wish® in the UK or €1.50 in Ireland. So wherever you live - North, South, East or West - just get family and friends together and do your own walk. And if you happen to be in London, we’ve even organised one for you in Royal Greenwich Park."

So what do we get for free?

You get to make a donation to charity without the money coming out of your own pocket. A chance to give something to others rather than any benefit to yourself.
The I wanna board is the place to ask for advice for the cheapest place to get hold of something you are looking for. The charities board is primarily intended for people involved in the running of charities to manage their finances better and to swop tips about fundraising etc.
Ways to donate to charity at no cost have been a feature on the Freebies Board for quite a while.
THIS ARTICLE by Martin might also be a useful read for some people hoping to give to others at no/less cost to themselves.

What a MISERABLE response, even more so for this time of year!dobbiesloan wrote:So what do we get for free?

I thought this was a 'money saving' website, not an 'I don't give, I just take' one.
As another respondent said, this let's us GIVE something, WITHOUT it actually costing anything. And you might benefit from meeting other people on the walk, who also like to GIVE a little. I will certainly enjoy MY walk!
Merry Christmas to everyone else.Bye for now,
Paul

What did I get out of it? Knowing that I am going to give something back - even if I'm busy working on the day in question ;-)

I would do a mile with the family on that day. Are they going to take our word for it?0

is it a sponsorship thing or do they just give £1 each? will they check up if less people than stated do it for any reason?Cleaning the house while children are growing is like shovelling snow when it's still snowing!0

The £1 donation is paid for each person that registers their intention to complete the walk, not for each person that actually does it.
No sponsorship or anything else is needed.0
