What's the deal?
As part of its 40th birthday celebrations, popular London listings guide Time Out is offering a free copy to people that phone a special number and ask for it. The offer was printed in a number of newspapers this week, but no offer code is necessary.
How to get it.
Simply call 0845 000 0218 between 8am and 8pm for your copy (usual price: £2.95). All that's required is that you provide a legitimate postage address. Postage costs will be covered by the publisher.
Why's it doing this?
First of all, it's a great way to attract new readers. Those who call will be offered a special subscription deal - 13 issues of the magazine for 99p. You have to sign up for a direct debit to get this, and they obviously hope you won't cancel it after the trial period.
If you do remember to cancel it quickly after the 12th issue arrives, it's actually pretty exceptional value at 8p per magazine. There's no obligation to take it up though, so just politely decline when offered if you just want the freebie.
Is it a limited offer?
It's slated to end in about three weeks, but there's no limit on the number of copies to be given away.

Yes, just called number. Was a bit surprised to get real live voice instead of recording which I was expecting! Call didn't take long so shouldn't cost too much...0
