This survey was commissioned as part of the ongoing BBC2 series called "The Truth About Property".

For the layman, it is one of the most sensible series in the mainstream media.

Interestingly Andrew Verity the presenter made a wrong call with his own flat and sold out far too soon, so he is in the "let it fall" camp. His winsome new copresenter is in the "I bought at the top" group; so the chemistry between the two of them could be entertaining over the coming months.

Tonight's programme made a lot of sense, the highlight was a trip on the "foreclosure bus" round the Florida housing estates.

How does the turmoil in the housing market affect you? Are you able to weather the mortgage storm? Presenters Andrew Verity and Jenny Scott travel through the UK to find out how households would survive a housing crash. Andy meets the Sawbridge family in Sheffield who are struggling to pay the mortgage and keep a roof over their heads, whilst Jenny meets a property investor who is sure there is money to be made even when times are hard.

Episode five is tomorrow on BBC2.

You can catch up on the story so far from last autumn here (funny 6 months must seem like a lifetime ago for some people)

The irony is, of course, that everyone wanting a fall today will be dead against one in the next cycle, as they'll own property by then.

The price of my 2-bedroom flat may fall, but the price of the 3- or 4-bed house I'll want to buy will probably fall further, so I'll be able to borrow less to buy it.
In my area in the crash last time it was the bottom end that fell the most, middle end a bit less and the top of the range homes hardly fell at all.

That's going to wipe a lot of value from the portfolio of the BTLers, if it works like that again.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.
