Get organised asap xmas 2008 wont cost a penny.

Found this site last year and was determined to make christmas as free as possible.
Joined quidco, pinecone, juicy brains, mutual points, pigsback, and anything else I could find.
I have spent this week christmas shopping on profits from these sites and money made from glitches in Tescos and Boots.
Today I Went to Tescos for major shop. Did a few shops as follows.

shop 1 and 2
Wireless keyboard and mouse, £15 itunes voucher. Total £34.97
paid using £12 electrical/clothing voucher, 2 x £4 book voucher, £16 LV, Received £1.03 in change twice.

shop 3
Wirless printer £49.97, pkt paracetamol £0.26 Used £12 E/C voucher £28 LV £10, gift card, paid 23p and received 5p off petrol voucher.

shop 4
pack of 2 mens shirts (reduced), 4 tins of adidas deodarant, grumpy old women book, 8 tins Jacobs nibbles (bogof), £10 02 top up,impulse body spray. Total after bogof £31.42 Paid using £12 C/E voucher, £2.50 H/B, £2.50 S/B, £1 H/B, 2 £4 book voucher, 3 Gallio £1 wine vouchers. £2.42

Shop 5
Tassimo machine (99.99) £12 C/E vouchers, 3 book voucher £12, £16 LV, £40 gift card, Paid £19.99 (money received from Mutual Points), recevied petrol voucher.

I have already got 2 ipod new things from John Lewis, bought using PB vouchers and discount codes, cost me £2.50 each in real cash. Gold and diamond bracelet from Amazon (Juicy Brains)

4 boxes of biscuits, 4 boxes chocolates, bought with Morrisons vouchers from petrol.
2 Bench satchel bags (littlewoods, glitch)
2 Ben Sherman Jumpers (littlewoods direct glitch)
4 completed Girly Hampers ( Boots, Tesco freebies)
So much Bucks fizz you could float a small battleship (yet another Tescos glitch)

Have yet to touch Quidco money waiting for payout approx £467, and Boots A/C card 1 £78, card 2 £22, card 3 £5.60 (saving that for 90% sale day)
Bought loads of bits and pieces when mispriced or in sale and have been very good and kept a spread sheet. I have using MOC and discount codes just for the purpose of purchasing gifts for xmas. If I have used MOC then I have purchased the same amount in Tesco stamps. Except for H/B

I am sure that even with a bit of impulse buying, I will still have lots left for the sales.

I am not as good at this as some, who seem to have turned it into a full time occupation, but with a bit of bottle and nerve it was not too hard.

By the way all shops possible today, thanks to crazy Irish Aunt, who told S/A that my neice has a few coupons and she was only going to come to her checkout if she took them. Aunt then proceeded to talk non-stop to girl, who seemed to be loosing the will to live.

Sorry to all you out there but shes my Auntie and I an not shearing her, going to put her in the box ready for next Christmas.

  • Well done!

Although I have not managed as much as you (maybe since I downsized anyway this year) similarly to you I discovered this site last year and my attititude to money has completely changed.

Well done to you and everyone else who has worked hard to have an MSE Christmas, and for those just discovering MSE come join us for next year!

I got food in my belly and a license for my telly
And nothing's going to bring me down

  • I have been doing all this too this year. Although my OD is maxed out now. Well there is always stuff one forgets, at least NONE of it is on credit cards so that is a major improvement for me. I nearly have enough points on pigsback for another £10 Boots voucher, too late for this christmas but hopefully in time for the sales ready for next xmas. I aslo signed up to onepoll and have £14.35 on that so should easily reach the £40 to draw it out in time for next xmas.

    hi there

Not quite in the same way as you are doing..but i have allready begun thinking about christmas 2008 too

I have decided that i really want to make as many gifts as possible for everyone.... So friday afternoon i started my 1st scarf :rotfl: and it is now up to 30"s :j ... im planning on knitting, jewellery making and x stitching to start with..and then later in the year will move on to having a bash at making flavoured spirits and decorating candles.... and anything else that comes to mind ;)

As im out in Germany a lot of ways of "earning" extras -points, cash etc aren't really do-able.. so this is my way of a) making money go further and
    b) not getting caught up in the "comercial" side of things...

Please feel free to come up with any ideas for the men in my life...brothers are going to be the most difficult i reckon

will keep an eye on here as im sure there will be loads of ideas appearing :D

    Hi,

I've only found this site a while back. But I am hoping to be on my way to a "free" christmas 2008.

I've also set a budget for each person we buy something for next year. Hubby isn't that happy with it, but I see it as a challenge!

    Good luck to everyone.

    Egon
I wish Germany had a website like moneysavingexpert!
  • I am going to have a "free" xmas 2008 & birthdays/any other occassion "free" as well!!!

I have already started a big box of freebies I have received and have left over from hampers, bogofs - when I dont need the 1 free, plus putting in any other bits I get (just bought 2 small make up bits from Rimmel today and got a free gift bag with bits in it!!).

Saving with quidco - have £65 so far. Saving Boots points - have £115.

Will make hampers for people next year and anything else I can make.

I abs love this site and all the tips - you are all wonderful (she says drinking her free bottle of coke from Boots!!) :T
  • I am looking forward to the Boots 90% sale, will buy as many gift sets as poss, they look far better when you break them up and redo them yourself. Looks like you have put a loads of effott into the pressie.
