party.jpgGoing to a Party is part of the Usborne Books first experiences range, which introduces young children to new situations in a friendly way using a story following a child through that event. The illustrations by Stephen Cartwright are full of things for children to look at and talk about to help them learn. The simple text enables slightly older children to read the books to themselves and there is the popular ‘yellow duck’ to spot on each page. The books cover topics including a new baby, starting school, moving house and going to the hospital and come in two sizes the pocket size ‘mini editions’ as sold at Littlesheep Learning which is great for taking out and about and a larger standard size for easy sharing.
Going to a Party is a fabulous book to help young children understand about birthday parties and to help prepare them to attend one. It outlines the process of a child’s birthday party through the eyes of Nellie and Ned. It shows the whole party ‘process’ from receiving the invitation, choosing a present, dressing up, giving presents, eating party food, playing games and then going home again.
