Luxury weekend break in Scotland – terms and conditions
- The Competition is open to persons aged 25 or over and entrants must be resident in the UK. The Competition is free and no purchase is necessary.
- To enter the Competition (“the Promotion”), entrants must fully complete their details on an online entry form at www.radiotimes.com/cruze, www.bbcmagazines.com/cruze and submit online thereto. The Closing Date of the Competition will be 23:59 hours GMT on 13 April 2010. Only one entry will be accepted per person per household; no bulk entries made by third parties will be permitted, and entries must not be submitted through agents or third parties, and any such entries will be deemed invalid by the Promoter. The Promoter will not be held responsible for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft, destruction, alteration of, or unauthorized access to entries, or entries lost or delayed whether or not arising during operation or transmission as a result of server functions, virus, bugs or other causes outside its control. All entries are the property of the Promoter and will not be returned.
- There will be 1(one) First Prize which consists of a Luxury Weekend Break for 2 (two) adults, at a premium Marriott hotel in Scotland for a two-night stay (Friday arrival and Sunday departure). In addition the use of a Chevrolet Cruze loan vehicle for the duration of the same weekend will be provided by the Promoter. The Winner will be required to take delivery of the Promoters’ Chevrolet Cruze loan vehicle on arrival at the hotel at 6pm on the Friday evening. The loan vehicle will be collected from the same address on the Sunday (time to be confirmed with the Winner on acceptance of the Prize). The Winner will be responsible for any other expenses, additional meals, costs, expenses etc through the period of the Luxury Weekend Break. For the purposes of Condition 8, whilst every effort is made to ensure that at least 3 days are provided for the loan of a Chevrolet Cruze for the Luxury Weekend Break prize, the Promoter cannot always guarantee this, and this will be discussed individually with each Winner at time of notification. If the Promoter, being able but is prevented from effecting such delivery to the Winner (due to failure/fault on the part of the Winner) on the due date; time and address agreed, the Winner will be liable to pay to the Promoter a £150 + VAT aborted delivery/collection fee. Daily rental charges will also continue to be applied for the period until the said Chevrolet Cruze loan vehicle is returned to the Promoter. These charges will be at the rate of £25 plus VAT per day. The Winner will be required to comply with the Promoter’s short term loan terms and conditions, which each Winner will be expected to sign, before a Chevrolet Cruze loan vehicle is left in the Winners’ possession for the purposes of the Luxury Weekend Break prize. For insurance cover, the Winner will need to provide their credit card details to cover the £250 excess on all claims, who will then be sent a signed voucher to hand over when the loan vehicle is delivered. The Winner will be responsible for all other costs not otherwise provided herein including costs of insurance excess, fuel and other lubricants for the use of the Chevrolet Cruze loan vehicle. The Winner will be required to redeem their Luxury Weekend Break between 30 April 2010 and 20 November 2010. The Winner (and any adult guest 25 years or over wishing to drive) must provide a copy of his/her driving licence in advance, of both the photo card and green paper licence, together with proof of identity (in the form of a passport), where the driving licence is not a photo card licence, and the Winner and any adult guest wishing to drive, must have no more than 6 points on his/her licence. The Promoter will not be responsible for any fines, congestion charges or penalties incurred during the loan period of the Chevrolet Cruze loan vehicle, which will be the responsibility of the Winner/guest driver (details within the terms and conditions of Chevrolet short term loan policy). The Promoter will comply with any police or other relevant authorities’ request to notify them of the name and address of the driver in accordance Section 172 of the Road Traffic Act 1988. There is 1 (one) Second Prize which consists of 1 (one) Samsung LCD HD-ready, 26 inch digital television to the value to the value of £349, supplied by John Lewis Partnership with a five year warranty starting from the date of delivery. There are 3 (three) Third Prizes to be won, which consists of a £100 Ticketmaster Entertainment Voucher to attend a sporting event of the Winner’s choice.
- The Winners of the Prizes, will be selected by an independent judge (appointed by the Promoter) from the entrants who have answered the multiple-choice question correctly, and in the event of a tie, the winners will be decided by the independent judge based upon which entrants have best answered the tie-break mechanism “Tell us in 100 words or less about your love for a relaxing traffic-free stretch that takes you away from it all, or a route that takes in heart-stopping, sweeping vistas.” An entry must be the original work of the entrant and must not contravene the rights of third parties. The ‘best’ tie-breaker entrant will be awarded the First Prize. The ‘second best’ tie-breaker entrant will be awarded the “Second Prize” and the 3 (three) runners-up will be awarded “Third Prizes”. The judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into. The Winner will be notified in writing within 7 working days of the draw via letter.
- No cash or other alternatives to the Prizes are available; the prizes are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash, and the prizes must be claimed by the person named on the official winning entry submission within 14 days of notification. Failure to claim the prizes within this period, shall lead to the prizes being forfeited, and entitle the Promoter to redraw another winner without liability.
- The name and county of the Winners can be obtained from The Programmes and Promotions Specialist – LBHM20100021, Chevrolet UK Limited, Griffin House, UK1 103 315, Osborne Road, Luton, LU1 3YT to those persons sending a stamped address envelope addressed between 11 May 2010 and 25 May 2010.
- Each such Winner (where applicable) grants to Chevrolet UK Limited a perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive licence to use the Winners’ written entry for all purposes connected with this aspect of the promotion, including but not limited to post-promotion publicity), and the Promoter may appoint a professional photographer to take some official shots for the purposes of publicity, and use the name of each Winner for the purpose of publicity without charge, and to which the Winner hereby consents.
- Events may occur that render the event itself or awarding the prize impossible due to reasons beyond the control of the Promoter, and the entrant agrees that no liability shall be attached to the Promoter as a result thereof. The Promoter reserves the right to offer alternative prizes of equal value, should this prove necessary.
- By entering the Competition, all entrants confirm they have read, accepted and agreed to be bound to the Terms and Conditions of which the application instructions, form part. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entry which breaches any of these terms and conditions (including entrants using a false name or address) and in its sole discretion may decide to award the relevant Prize to the next best entry chosen by the Promoters’ independent judge or to re-offer such Prize in any future competition, without liability.
- Employees (and their families) of Chevrolet UK Limited, its associated companies, its dealers and agencies and BBC Worldwide, Radio Times and Lonely Planet, are not eligible for entry.
