Thank you ever so much - am trying to work out if it works out better for me to work nights at Tesco which is two minutes walk from home, or a job ten miles away. Think you've just answered my question! x

i have often wondered wither to change jobs, you have to work there for a year before you get 10% off.

I'd say you'd get well over £7.00 an hour, depending which department, cause on day rates they pay more than Asda & our night team get £7.60 sommat

I used to work in the wages office of a Tesco store about 10 years ago. If I remember correctly, night workers were on the same hourly rate as day staff. Then the night staff were paid night premiums. This was dependent on what hours at night they worked. Night premiums stopped at about 6 am. It was all quite complicated trying to explain to members of staff that some of their night hours were paid with premiums of time & third, time & fifth etc. Of course it may well have changed now but I'm sure if you contact the wages office they will tell you what a night worker gets paid.
  • My mrs is a resourse manager for Tesco I can ask her tomorrow if she can find out if you like? Just let me know if you want me to and I will post it here. The rate will be Nottm but I assume it will be same throught country(outside M25)
