Hi!
my little sister starts uni in September so for her birthday this month I am giving her a recipie folder as she says she doesn't know how to cook.
Anyone got any good recipies I could add? They'd need to be easy to cook and affordable for a student!
Thanks guys!

If you know what sort of food she likes you could also take a look in The Complete Old Style Recipes Collection for recipes.

Thanks for the link to the complete old style recipes collection. It's fantastic!:T
never knew it existed, but it's nice to have some new ideas (especially for DH who gets a bit sick of the same old same old!)0 -
I'd say as well as giving her a book, cook with her. Seeing someone else in action is what makes all the difference!0

There was a girl at my uni who kept making herself ill through not knowing about general dos and donts which is where my bf also lacked when I met him. It does scare me that he used to cook for a toddler but didnt know raw chicken and cooked food shouldnt come into contact with eachother, the girl in question used to cook things from frozen that needed thawing and ate them even though they were not cooked through.
Maybe you could add a tips page. Its also useful to expalin some terminology like folding, simmer etc. so she can easily read new recipes she finds.
As a student I lived on pasta and sauces, baked potatoes with different toppings, rice with minced beef and sausages. I was lucky that I came home every weekend for some proper food too!0
