    bought similar little sony mp3 player from play.com last year - nice little machine but volume is pathetic even when turned up full - apparently some EU reg means they have to limit volume and there doesnt seem to be any way of removing limiter - beware

    I bought the 2gb NW-E005 for the same price last year. Is THIS the one you mean?? You CAN disable the limiter (it tells you how to do it in the instruction booklet). As far as I am aware they ALL have the disable feature.

    I've just disabled the limited on mine ... it doesn't appear to be any louder! x

    Well mine was limited at

    Lo 5
    Mid 10
    High 15

    without limiter it goes to 32

    Another thing as well is to set the graphic equaliser as the default setting is flat and can mean low and muffled sound. Try one of the presets.

    In that case the limiter wasn't on mine before then - it already went to 31. Nevermind ... x
