finding out about CCJ

Hi
I have a friend who has lived in Germany for the past 8 years.
He has just asked me to find out if there`s any CCJ here against him.
How do i go about it? to be honest, i wouldn`t think i would be able, or is there any info i could send him
Many thanks

I don't know if there is another way but the credit reference agencies will list them. He may be able to request them himself because they are on the internet although I don't know if the German address might be a problem.

The two agencies are Equifax and Experian

Either one will do and it only costs £2 to get a report of everything they know about his credit history.
  • CCJs are registered and stay on the registry for about 6 years.

You can search the registry or find more information here

    http://www.registry-trust.org.uk/searchintro.aspx

You can search online for a payment on £4.50.

It's unlikely, however, that an 8 year old judgement would still be on the register. But, if a CCJ was made, it might have been less than 6 years ago - it depends on how long the lender took, before applying for the CCJ.
