My Kenwood Chef is trying to run away!

I am a very, very happy oldMcDonald at the moment as yesterday I was given an almost brand new Kenwood Chef.
Obviously I had to play with it, so I had a go at making a cake, and then had a go at some bread. With the cake all was fine, but when it came to the bread, the Chef tried to go AWOL!! It jumped and jiggled and 'walked' across the counter! I followed the recipe in the book that came with it and it definitely was not overloaded - the book says a max flour weight of 3lb and I had only used 1lb.
I'm really just wondering if this is normal? I asked the person who gave it to me but she said she had no idea as she had only used it twice to whisk a large quantity of Angel Delight, which is why she gave it away (!)

no idea hopefully someone else will know
But I do remember my nan always used to sit hers on a towel when she used it, so maybe that would work?June Grocery Challenge 270.80/250July Grocery Challenge 0/3000 -
They do struggle sometime with dough.
Its normally just as it gets the dough formed and before it settles down into a rhythm. [strike]Just sit on it[/strike].Hold it steady to begin with.

i've got an early 70s model - and it does do the twostep tango with big fruit cake mixes and bread dough as well. using a slow setting helps a bit, but leaning on it works better! Never found a cure - sorry!0

I stand my dancing beauty on a damp terry towel. However, I cannot trust it enough to leave it alone!0

I was warned when i was given an old one that it may struggle a bit with bread so to split it into two lots once it forms a dough, it seems to work but i have to 'encourage' it to stay on the work top even then!
I use the teatowel too.0 -
If you haven't got any pets you could maybe put it on the floor instead, then it can only walk to the end of it's lead!0

Seems to be a common problem - mine sometimes does this, but usually only when coping with near the limit weights - I usually just lean on it too!Resolution:

Thanks for the replies, it makes me feel pleased that it is normal behaviour for a Kenwood Chef, and it's not that my cooking is so awful that it is trying to make its way back to its original owner!
I will try the tea towel idea next time, as it seems to be a well tried way to keep it still!! I love the idea of putting it on the floor and letting it 'walk' as far as its leash will let it - I have two Springer Spaniels and I think they would think all their Christmases and Birthdays had come all at once with food that they didn't even have to get up for...after all, why bother when it walks to you0 -
:T :T :T :T To the OP and all the other posters on this thread - it's been a tough day and your stories of Kenwoods trying to escape has made me smile!
Apologies for hijacking the thread.
