Shortcrust pastry

Options
Can anyone help me with some ideas on what to so with leftover (a fair amount) shortcrust pastry.

I have had a look through the threads and the index but am needing some inspiration.

It is the frozen stuff that cant be froze again once defrosted so i need to use it up.

Thanks

Could you roll it out and then cut into squares, bake and then freeze.
Then you could use it as a pastry top for hot pots or pies, just dish up the meat and stick a crust on top.
I think they do this in some pubs.

Jam tarts, sausage rolls, apple turnovers, depends what else you have available. I like to spread it with jam, then sprinkle coconut, roll up and bake for a yummy pud. Or make chorley cakes if you have sultanas to hand, they will freeze too (if they last that long!).

You could always line a pie dish, bake blind and then freeze it, ready for when you're short of time.

  • Cheese and onion and potato pasties or meat and potato pies. Once cooked they should be able to be refrozen ready for packed lunches or emergency meals

for some good ideas for both shortcrust and puff pastry - I've tried a number of the vegitarian tarts and they were really nice.
