This month we’ve teamed up with Gradwell, the VoIP specialists, to offer a chance to win a fantastic PDA, plus other goodies
VoIP – Internet Telephony – is a means of making phone calls over the internet. It’s commonly used by IT professionals and, increasingly, by home and small business users. VoIP is rapidly becoming a huge phenomenon, as demonstrated by the success of US provider Vonage, and the $2.6billion purchase of Skype, a popular internet calling service, by eBay.
A pioneer of VoIP in the UK, Peter Gradwell co-founded the IP industry’s trade association ITSPA, chaired Nominet’s Policy Board and, in 2006, became the British Computer Society’s youngest ever Fellow. The BCS also recently celebrated its 50th birthday. His company, Gradwell is a top three provider of VoIP to SMEs, and has won several commendations in the DTI-Interforum ecommerce awards. Among the company’s recent joint-venture innovations is the Camrivox Flexor 500, providing a feature-rich VoIP service with the ability to message via Microsoft Outlook.
Portability of existing numbers to the Gradwell service was introduced in 2006, along with the offer of a comprehensive range of “golden numbers”, giving receivers of callers the perception of, for example, calls coming from a London location even though they’re being made (and received) overseas, or outside the capital in any chosen UK dwelling/ office. In addition, Gradwell offers a VoIP service for Nokia e-Series business mobiles.
Enter now! If you want to be in with a chance of winning the top prizes up for grabs, you need to answer the following questions:
What is the acronym of the UK’s IP trade body?
Answer: ITSPA
How old is the British Computer Society?
Answer: 50
In the biggest VoIP sale of all time, how much did eBay buy Skype for?
Answer: $2.6 Billion
Good Luck
