The most enchanting family film of the year Mist: The Tale of a Sheepdog Puppy comes to DVD on 9 April, just in time to save the Easter holidays.
A star is born as loveable puppy Mist enters the world to begin her film career on Borough Farm. Hearts will melt to a chorus of aahhs as viewers fall in love the moment Mist opens her adorable eyes and sets pulses racing as she takes to her adventures on the real-life working farm in the glorious Devonshire countryside.
Similar to the much-loved films Babe and Charlotte’s Web but actually based on real-life events and personalities, Mist takes us inside the minds of the animals as we hear their thoughts and conversations as they encounter humans, fun and perils on a working farm.
Narrated by Derek Jacobi (Nanny McPhee) and featuring the vocal talents of Mel Giedroyc of Mel & Sue fame, Brian Blessed (Alexander) and Una Stubbs (Worzel Gummidge) as the voices of the animals, Mist features one of the most endearing casts captured on film and is based on a story and characters by David Kennard. With a lively cast of unique characters Borough Farm is also home to sheepdogs Swift; a strict disciplinarian and her monosyllabic teenage son Ernie as well as molehill bouncing Jake and Mist’s dependable mother Gail.
Already a ratings winner on Five on Christmas Day 2006, this original British film is perfect family viewing with wholesome core values to be enjoyed by young and old. The success of the film has led to a repeat broadcast this coming Easter and a full series Mist – Sheepdog Tales starting on Five’s Milkshake! in the Spring.
Mist is one of three pups born at Borough Farm. From the moment that she opens her eyes she knows that one day she wants to become a real sheepdog. But things are not as straightforward as she might have hoped. Training with the boss seems to be rather confusing and then there’s a bunch of gruff and grumpy rams to deal with, and an auntie who doesn’t seem to always have her best interests at heart. Can Mist really learn her craft and one day prove herself worthy of a place in the team of sheepdogs at Borough Farm?
The DVD will include the following special features:
• Making Mist introduction by David Kennard
• Deleted Scenes
• Stills Gallery
About David Kennard
From Farmer to Filmmaker - Kennard’s life is a story in itself, he created headlines when as a farmer forced to diversify to supplement his income due to the increasing pressures of running a modern day farm and the foot and mouth outbreak he released the hugely successful documentary The Year of the Working Sheepdog. He gambled his life savings, borrowed from a friend and took his overdraft to the limit to make his first film. His videos and books have sold in excess of 200,000 copies to date.
David has now turned his talents to family entertainment with his first feature film that will delight families across the nation this Easter, making a star of Mist in The Tale of a Sheepdog Puppy and forthcoming series on five.
When they are not involved with filming, David, Mist and the rest of the dogs can be found at work in North Devon, where David’s 600 sheep graze some of the country’s most beautiful coastline.
