I'm glad they got the capitalization correct too :p

Although, mobile phone broadband, megaBYTES per second? I'm on 20Mb Virgin on my main PC, and I only get 2MB per second if I'm lucky and connected to a very good server.

What on earth do mobile phones get these days then?

20Mb Virgin = 20 megaBITS per second. 1 bit = 8 bytes, so 20 Mbps = 2.5MBps. I.e. you'll never see better than 2.5MBps on a file transfer, even if all other factors are perfect. Of course, the higher your connection speed, the less likely you are to hit its ceiling, as it becomes increasingly likely that the bottleneck occurs elsewhere (normally at the remote server).

Vodafone's top speed rating is 7.2Mbps, T-Mobile's & Virgin's are 4.5Mbps, 3's is 3.6Mbps. WiMAX can provide up to 70Mbps, but is not widely available, and the only specs I can find for a provider in Central London claim 2 - 10Mbps.

Ahem, yes I know all that, hence my comment about correct capitalization earlier ;)

    Thanks though :p
