    I'm very tempted too. I've just bought the Aldi one but its not very good so its going back. Now apparently you can upgrade this one via a serial cable to make it a proper dual record box as it's a record one watch one natively but you only then get a 2 day EPG.

    I did have a look on the trhreads to see if anyone has posted this but couldn't find it so here goes. On Maplin clearance section a 160GB HD twin freeview recorder for under hundred quid. Seems like quite a bargain and plenty in stock, don't know the make but this is the spec:

    Might have some goodies inside but it looks like its made of cardboard.

    yeah i see what you mean alright. the buttons look like they were designed for children with _really_ fat fingers...

    Might be a nostalgia thing - I'm old enough to remember the days when all Maplins 'projects' came in boxes like that...:D

    Well, fortunately for me, my mum doesn't mind how eletricals looks, so I bought this for her. She's over the moon that she can now record all her favourite soaps and dramas and movies over christmas.

    Bless her, I love my mum.

    It was a breeze to set up (i.e. just plug in and away it went), and everything's so easy to use. I think I'll so the updrage on it for her soon, it's just a pitty she'll loose the 7 day EPG.

    Anyway, in my opinnion, it's as ugly as sin, but it works pretty well.
