hi all,
i was buying my estee lauder double wear, when assistant tried to sell me a foundation brush cost £25. i thought a bit steep and didnt buy but she said it lasts a lifetime. i normally buy the higher quality sponge from boots, which breaks down after a couple of months or so.
i see m and s do a similar one for £7.50. ive never applied foundation with or brush so dont know if it makes any difference
any advice greatly appreciated
kind regards mel

I have never used a brush on a liquid foundation but I use one for mineral make up which is a powder foundation. For liquid I have always used my fingers.0

I bought my brushes from M&S and think they are excellent, feel very silky on the skin and blend foundation nicely. Also not too expensive for the quality.0

The Body Shop do quite good make up brushes - and the bristles don't fall out...

I know that a brush is supposed to be the best way to apply foundation, but as a wearer of EL double wear, I find using a sponge better - this foundation seemed to dry hard on the brush meaning that it needed washing after each time I'd used it. I use a conical shape sponge from Mac and find that it does the job perfectly.0

It depends on your foundation, but for the application of a liquid type foundation I find a brush unbeatable...Avon do a very reasonable and very good one.0

I got some MAC brushes for Christmas and I don't know how I ever managed before, the finish is flawless.
They were from an outlet store (The Cosmetics Store i think) at Bicester Village, set of 5 for £30 and worth every penny

Ditto this I always use my fingersGive a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach that person touse the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks.:D0 -
If I am in a rush I use my fingers but for a polished flawless look (well as flawless as my skin allows) a brush is brilliant. I have tried using a sponge but found it soaked up the foundation and was difficult to apply to my skin.0

i do use a foundation brush. i have one from EL and got another one with a MAC brush set, and they are both brilliant. I find that I get a flawless finish and don't use very much foundation at all.
I don't like sponges as they soak up all the product, which is a real waste.
I clean my brushes with sopay water once every 3 weeks, and after each use, I just use some toilet tissue to clean off the excess foundation from my brush. Not buying clothes for a year - it's liberating!0 -
I am using Prescriptives make up and it comes with a sponge. The girl at the counter said don't use the sponge as it soaks up too much make up, use a brush. Of course she did try to flog me a Prescriptives brush but I have a lovely set from Costco and they are fab.
