Sony Ericsson J132 black (Pay As You Go) from carphone warehouse for £4.84 plus £10 top up, total £14.84 free delivery.
go via quidco, click on their pay as you go link and you will see the above phone for 4.84 when you buy a £10 top up.
we got the motorola for under £13 plus £5 Quidco cashback before Christmas, but having had a Sony Ericsson before I know how good the useability is.
Searched for j132 and couldn't find it, my very first Grabbit, so forgive me if it's been done already.:o
Phones from carphone wearehouse tend to be unlocked already, so it's a good back up phone, or just a simple one for Granny or the car.

This is a great deal but people should be aware that getting the £10 credit from carphonewarehouse can be a big challenge and can take over a month and several calls/emails. As long as you can handle this it really is a great deal.0

Our £10 top up went through fine on the Motorola deal, and they gave us an extra £1 and 30 free txts, both of which we had to use within 30 days.
Because it's a 'spare' phone we're not too fussed if the top up takes a bit of time.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I still don't have my top up and I bought on the 15th December! I agree I'm not really annoyed because it's a spare. However I know some people were looking at the Motorola as a present so thought it only fair to pre-warn them in case they are not aware of the potential problems.0

Can't believe it - it arrived this afternoon!:j
I only ordered it last night at about 18:30 hours.
:j I'm really impressed - I hope the top up goes smoothly now!Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Hi
Please can you confirm that this phone is unlocked?0 -
I bought one of these phones when mine had to go in to be fixed and it was a nightmare, its so slow and very very basic. Good if you just want to call and text but can take ages to get through the menu to do either!
I bought it in argos for £9.99would love to win an ipad!

The cheapest mobile in Argos at the moment is nearly £20 with no calltime.
Yes, it's a basic phone, but reviews say the battery life is very good.
I've managed to text with it easily enough - but then we don't tend to go for all singing all dancing phones in our household, so I wasn't expecting any WAP, GPS, HFT or any other 3 lettered anacronym for something I won't use. It does what is says on the tin - phones people and texts them. Also downloads numbers from my old SIM without having to look up the instructions - nice and easy for us dinosaurs.;)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

If you have a CPW store near you, I recommend paying them a visit - there are more SIM options available in-store than on-line.
In my case, I knew the phone was offered for £4.84 on-line with a compulsory £10 Orange top-up. I explained to the salesman that I would really like to use my current Virgin PAYG SIM in the phone, and wondered if the phone would be locked to Orange. He assured me that it was unlocked and went into the back room to get me the boxed phone (no sign of ANY network on the box).
He then looked up on the computer what top-ups were available with it (for the £4.84 price). It turned out that I had a choice of Orange, TalkMobile or Virgin. I opted for the Virgin top-up. So he then got a sealed Virgin-SIM welcome pack out of the drawer, read the phone number off the pack, input it into the computer with a £10 top-up request. The computer receipt came back saying the SIM had been succesfully topped-up (just as if I'd paid for a card top-up at the supermarket). The phone and SIM were still separately sealed when I left.
The best was when I got home and opened the Virgin Welcome pack - I discovered that, as a welcome and to get me started, the original SIM came with a preinstalled £1 credit on it; the £10 top-up had increased this to £11, meaning the effective cost of the phone was £3.84.:j
Finally, I put my ORIGINAL SIM into the phone, and after selecting the language, setting the time and date, and downloading my contacts from the SIM onto the phone, the new phone was behaving just like my old one. I've also tried a Tesco SIM and Asda SIM in the phone (that's the O2 and Vodafone networks, and Virgin is T-mobile), and all are recognized.
All in all, I'm very pleased!0
