Can someone please help me. My teenage son attempted to iron his football T-shirt and now I have the iron with melted bits on it. It was in perfect working order until now!
Please advice me. What can I do to clean this.

Not sure if this is recommended but I always get a wet non scratch scourer - you know the ones that come in a wirey metal ball and are supposed to clean without scratching - and while the iron is hot and the scourer is wet I use that - brings mine up a treat without appearing to scratch it at all.Comps £2016 in 2016 - 1 wins = £530 26.2%

Sometimes if you wait until the iron is cold the bits will just peel off ... I had a similar problem when I ironed a pair of cycling shorts lol, they'd been fine before but this time there was a sizzle and I ended up with an iron covered in melted plastic. Thankfully it peeled off the iron and there were no lasting problems.0

I would try setting the iron to maximum heat and then ironing a piece of scrap cloth.0

Rub the cold iron melted bit with ice cube and it will harden and pull off like melted wax I think.Saving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j0

i did a similar thing recently, not realising what setting the iron was on. i mixed up a 50/50 water and white wine vinegar and dampened a cloth in it. then i put the iron onto max setting and ironed over the cloth...came off with a bit of elbow grease put into the mix!"a workman, even of the lowest and poorest order, if he is frugal and industrious, may enjoy a greater share of the necessaries and conveniences of life than it is possible for any savage to acquire."0

Bless him though for trying - he will have to learn and good on him. Mum teach him properly and his future wife will love you for it.Saving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j0
