What does a 'personal ioniser' do?

Only I was tempted in Boots by one to hang round my neck, it was only £2.50 and it looks very pretty, it glows when it's switched on! It's caused great hilarity at home though 'cos I have no idea what it's supposed to be doing for me! Apart from crackling and hissing very very faintly ...

. I think £2.50 for any glowy hissy thing is extremely good value...WELL DONE YOU!

Hello Savvy_Sue
Here is a non technical explanation for your query. Imagine your room becoming stuffy and airless.........due perhaps to the fitted carpet, television, hi-fi and other gadgets. The air in the room becomes highly positively charged (or is it negatively?:D )........then when you switch the ioniser on, it discharges negative ions to make the air 'fresher'. The effect is a bit like spending the day at the seaside and enjoying the fresh air.
So, carrying the ioniser wherever you wander will ensure that you have a constant supply of the 'fresh' air.10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Give blood, save a life. 0 -
Thank you Nile, I was sure it was something good like that. Mind you, wherever I go it seems stuffy and airless at the moment, because it's just too HOT! I haven't yet noticed a huge difference but I will persevere, especially at work today.Nile wrote:Here is a non technical explanation for your query. NO! You malign me. It's silver, and light is blue.pavlovs_dog wrote:come on 'fess up...its pink as well isnt it :rotfl:
And it seems to be helping, although possibly that's because I wasn't working this afternoon and it's a teensy bit colder.
:rotfl:Are you sure? Surely in these days of equality I could have a pink straightjacket if I wanted one? Patient choice and all that ...pavlovs_dog wrote:you'll have problems if ever you need to be sectioned you know sue, those nice jackets with the extra long sleeves only come in one colour

I keep seeing girls with bright pink plaster casts on their wrists, I signed one for a lass in Morrisons the other day, she was trying to get as many different languages as possible on her cast. Then the next day I thought I saw her at the hospital, but it was a different girl, and I've seen another one at church.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

:rotfl:That's what's worrying my husband. As a well brought up trekkie, he doesn't want to be anywhere near me when I'm being ionised! Shame, 'cos I bought one for him too and he won't wear it!aliasojo wrote:Good Lord...how hard is it savvy???!!!! A personal ioniser is an ioniser that ionises you personally. Sheeessshhh!
It certainly does. It glows faintly ... fetching shade of blue. Yes, I can do blue as well as pink!aliasojo wrote:Edited to add: I'm sue it looks very fetching on you too.....:)Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Well, today I survived work (30 deg, hot and airless) until 4.45 pm and was STILL capable of coherent speech at the end of the day. It could be a placebo effect, but I forget I'm wearing it most of the time so I think there's more to it than that.pavlovs_dog wrote:well at least its making you feel better! i definatly feel better for the giggle
Got to be better than working with no clothes on, which is what our treasurer suggested as a cheaper alternative to hiring an aircon machine! :rotfl:Signature removed for peace of mind0
