I used to make this for my kids at halloween and they loved it
make a square sponge cake
slice the top off fairly thinly
cut a coffin shape (I know!!) out of the bottom deep part
hollow it out
make bones out of icing paste
scatter them inside
put the lid on you make out of the top you cut off
ice RIP on the top you can cover it in chocolate if you want but I never did
put on cake board or plate
collect some dead leaves from garden rinse them off
place round the cake
the kids love it
they eat the bones and scare the life out of each other doing it
lol

Not a cake, but a food related game for kids halloween parties. I remember this from when I was a kid.
Kids sat in a circle, lights off (needs to be really dark).
Tell a spooky story worked around a person walking in a wood, found haunted house, went in (creak), went upstairs, found trunk in a room, in trunk (pass objects around or walk around and let them feel them):
A finger (shapped carrot)
An eye ball (Boiled egg without the shell)
A Brain (Cauliflower with all the leaves stripped off)
Finally he pulled out:
A still beating heart!!!!!!(Jelly, in a freezer bag pulled into heart shape with your hand underneath, pulse hand like a heart beating)
Don't forget to clear the food away before turning the lights back on. - it scares them even more if they don't know how you did it
It's great fun - keeps the kids entertained for ages if you can weave a good long ghost story. When life hands you a lemon, make sure you ask for tequilla and salt0 -
Galtizz, I love it ;D what a great idea.
We play a game called 'Pick The Bogie'
Sit 2 teams of equal number of players in a line opposite each other.
Give the first in line on each team a bowl of green jelly with green grapes in the bottom.
Each child has a plastic 'witches finger' and they then have to fish out a grape ( or a specified number) before handing the bowl along to the next person.
The first team either to get out all the grapes or first to get to the end of the line is the winner.
Beware though, green jelly stains!0 -
we don't normally do anything for halloween, but i like the tought of scarin the kids. thanks for the ideas.0

we have made fairy cakes with green (lime) and red (strawberry) jam blobs in the middle, and coloured the sponge with green food colouring. the look disgusting but are quite yum.0

ypu could make a jelly using the inside of a pumpkin as the mould, and it would still be ok to use for a pumpkin pie or soup afterwardsMember no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
I have done reading too!
