Hi, i'm moving house in a few month and i will be buying everything new, sofa, carpets, blinds and i'm wondering if you can haggle in places like curry's and john lewis m&s and places like that. I always thought it was just the privately owned local shops you can haggle in but as i am buying all this could i haggle in dfs for a sofa and carpet right for carpet etc.

You can haggle for almost anything, big stores tend to not give discounts but if you persist you might just get a bargain. i always make sure i know what the best prices are before buying. I check out the internet and take into consideration cashback sites. enjoy haggling though it should be good fun.
Last year my nephew, 11 yrs old, wanted a psp and a load of games n stuff. after watching dont get done get dom he asked for discount in a Game store the guy initially said no so he said well can you get me the manager. The next 15 minutes was spent with my nephew getting all he wanted i worked out it was about 235 pounds and he got it for 170.You cant take the trousers off an elephant!0 -

Know anyone with spare storage space, be it a spare room or garage/shed?
If you made a budget for all the major items you wanted then looked on a daily basis on HUKD/MSE/OOTD etc for items you are after and grab the bargains as and when they appear before moving, open and test then stick in storage.
I suggest this is as any salesmen/manager will smell rush/desperation on anyone and will not budge as much as someone who can just go elsewhere.0 -
You can always haggle in electronics shops! I've played off Currys, PC World and pixmania which are all the same company. Just google for a good price, check it is in stock then walk in to the shop and give them the URL.
Oh and richer sounds gave me 25% discount last week this way0 -
Managers at Currys are allowed to give up to a 10% discount in store...they'll say they can only give a discount if you take the insurance (rip off) with the product but that's not true.
Just keep trying them. :beer:0
