Green Metropolis and Amazon Question

Options
Hi all
I am debt clearing and decluttering. Thing is I put a load of books on Green Metropolis at the beginning or March, plus a few on Amazon, and they are not selling:confused: I thought I would go with these because there are no upfront fees? So do any of your know how long is too long to leave these books on there? I have several star trek ones, harry potter, so fairly popular I would have thought.

Hope someone can give me a clue!

Hi, I have sold books on Greenmetropolis. Did you look to see if there were any more of the same books for sale ? In my experience if there are they are unlikely to sell . It would seem popular books are more easily obtainable. Self help type books seem to go quite quickly. Hope this helps

    Hi Chevalier

I have sold loads of books on Amazon - but most of them were quite specialist books. For the more popular titles there are often lots listed and so lots of competition.

Amazon delists books after 60 days, you can relist them and this is a good opportunity to check that your books are competitively priced, with a good description to make that customer choose YOUR book rather than any of the others.

I have no experience of Green Met but I would have thought Amazon the better bet for sales as it is so much more well known by the buying public.

    good luck!

And PS - what's happening with your oil leak? Is it going to cost a fortune to sort out?

Hi both thanks for the replies.
I think I will just leave them up on the green met site for now.

The oil leak saga is continuing. The main thing is that the insurance company are going to pay for the clean up, which is by far the most expensive and time consuming part of the business. We have had the loss adjuster come now, and he has a number for the amount of oil that we lost, as we can claim for that. I am hoping that the insurance company will pay for the old tank to be taken away, as part of the clean up, but not holding my breath.

The main thing we have to do is pay for the tank. This will be at least £800 + VAT. That is if we install it where the old one is now. However we wouldn't be able to fit a bunded tank on there, because they are wider (so we would have no path to the back of the house). So we are looking at resiting it. More money!

    cheers

aargh... what a lot of money... you poor things!

Good luck with the book sales... if they don't shift, you could always try a carboot sale too.

    Hi chevalier,

I've sold a few books on Green Met but the problem with popular books is that there'll be lots of the same title listed and it works on the basis of first listed first sold. You have to wait for the books by the same title to be sold before it gets to your turn; they sell quite quickly once they've been on for a while; that also explains why specialist books sell quickly, there's less of them available.
