Has anyone got an 80s Neff electric fan oven?

It's built into our kitchen, so I have no choice but to use it
Trouble is, I can't seem to get a cake to rise in it however I adjust the temperature or cooking time. I know the mix/method is right as I never had problems before we moved here.
It doesn't help that I'd never cooked with electric, let alone a fan oven, before here, and when we asked the landlord for some instructions, the reply was 'well all the packets tell you how to cook things these days' - I don't want to use packets!

Thank you

It's driving me potty - every time I think I've got it right, I take it out looking all nice and risen, but go to cut it and it's gone flat and gooey, or hard as a rock
